Joshua David McKenney is an artist, sculptor and doll maker. His doll is called Pidgin - her name is inspired by the language that grows out of diverse ways of communicating. Pidgin is a doll that is fluent in the language of style.
With over 100, 000 followers on social media Pidgin is changing the perception of the fashion doll, she is not just a doll to dress and undress but a muse to inspire and dream with.
Pidgin’s dedicated fans imitate her hair, makeup and costume and share the results on social media. She has also inspired designers Linda Farrow and Victor Luna leading to high fashion campaigns featuring Pidgin in London, Paris and New York.
Joshua declares that he is “ very committed to the idea of dolls as art. Most people think of dolls only as toys. But a doll can be so much more—an elevated object full of meaning, power, and beauty.”
